Cleaning & Organizing

Well I spent the day working on cleaning and organizing the attic.  We have a finished attic and it is a great space.  Rather it would be a great space if we could figure it out.  We have set it up as a bedroom, a living space and an office space, always with a side of storage.  I really believe that if we can figure out the right combination of furniture and functionality, that it could be an amazing retreat for us.  A place to read and relax, laugh, play and be entertained.  It really is a great space.  It just needs to be tamed.

To that end, Cinn and I have been working to get it organized.  This weekend we made further strides and continue to move forward with making the space our own.  I got a lot of paperwork organized, emptied some boxes and got rid of some of that stuff that I have been keeping for...ok I don't know exactly why I was keeping it.  It's likely because I am a packrat.  "I might need this old mouse.  You know the PS2 version that I am not at all sure that I even have a computer that it would work with."  I have a hard time throwing things out but I did throw out a little bit today.  Baby steps right?

I have worked through the mess that inevitably develops when cleaning up some of the crap I have in storage and managed to file, throw out and put away everything I was working on so that we are at present, no worse for wear.

It's the end of the day and I think that we are a little bit closer to taming the attic (and for that matter our house) than we were at the beginning and I think ultimately that is a good thing.
