Cleaning and the 'Mysterious Blue Smoke'

It was another cleaning weekend and we have made more progress in getting the house organized.

It started badly though on Saturday morning when 2 minutes after starting to vacuum there was a nasty smell coming from the vacuum cleaner.  I looked down to see it emitting the mysterious blue smoke.  The problem is that after you release the mysterious blue smoke things stop working.  So we had to bite the bullet and buy a new vacuum.  We decided that we would spend the extra money and buy a Dyson even though we really can't afford it.  It is a great vacuum though and we are glad to have it.  It does an amazing job.  So small vacuum crisis over we were able to work on doing our regular cleaning and continued our work on the attic space.

We are quite pleased with the current arrangement but still have much tweaking to do.  We need to add another bookshelf and a couple of chairs.  We need the chairs because we added a new electric faux fireplace this week.  They were on sale at Canadian Tire for 50% off and we have wanted one for some time so we took the opportunity to get one on sale.  It isn't the same as the real thing but it has the advantages of not requiring any wood, we can have the 'fire' on but no heat and it has a remote!

We continue to forge ahead at home and I am thinking over the coming months that we will probably have some painting in our future.  We are generally pleased with the colors in our house but some areas could use a little spackle and a coat of paint or two and we may just have to change the colors in some rooms as they aren't what we are looking for.

I am pleased with the work we have done but there is so much more to do.  We will just have to take it one month at a time and try not to break the bank as we do it.
